To make this decision, you must consider three things:
The dot matrix printer is best for low quality, low speed output. It is also the least costly to maintain.
The inkjet is best for color. However it is just a little faster than the dot matrix and is more costly to maintain.
The laser is the best for monochrome quality. It is fast and relatively inexpensive to maintain.
So, if you need color, get an inkjet. If you speed and no color, get a laser. If you are not concerned about speed or quality, get a dot matrix.
As far as cost, a dot matrix will usually be the cheapest. An inkjet is a little more expensive than a dot matrix. The laser will be the most expensive.
In any event, try out the printers in the store before you buy them. Compare the hard copy from the different printers you are interested in. Pick the one that looks best to you.
